On average 19 percent of students lose their school ID cards every year. At some schools, students are required to use their IDs every day, so this could really add unnecessary stress to both your students and your staff. Misplacing things happens, but you know something that kids rarely lose because they have always it on them? Their phones! Almost all cards today can be accessed and used through your phone. You can add your credit and debit cards to your Apple Wallet on an iPhone, access your barcode to your gym through its app, or even access your keycard to your room at some hotels. So shouldn’t teachers and students have access to their school IDs from their smartphones too? With SchoolInfo, they can!
With a branded mobile app by SchoolInfo, students and teachers can access a digital version of their school ID. That means you no longer need to worry about students misplacing their physical IDs and going through the process of ordering a new one for them to find it a week later… or does that only happen to me? Digital IDs go anywhere a phone or tablet can go and includes all the information for most library and cafeteria systems, as well as a great way to check in for off-campus events.
The digital barcode is scannable if you have the right hardware that can scan from a device. Don't know if your scanner will work on a device? I’ll help you figure that out! Because of the way the light reflects off a screen, some scanners won’t be able to detect the barcode. There are 3 different types of scanners, so make sure you have or upgrade to a 2D scanner that will be able to scan the barcode on a smartphone, unlike a 1D scanner. If you don’t know what you currently have, take a picture of a barcode on your phone, and try scanning the image off of your device. If it doesn't work, you may want to consider upgrading your scanner if your school regularly scans IDs.
