Happy National Principals Month!

Written by Scarlet Jaworski | Oct 14, 2022 5:43:22 PM

October is National Principals Month, a time to celebrate all of the hardworking and passionate principals across the country who work tirelessly to make their schools great. We wanted to take the time to thank each and every school leader who goes above and beyond to oversee all school operations and daily activities to create a progressive learning environment. Principals are tasked with the responsibility of ensuring the success and well-being of each student in their school. At SchoolInfo, we know how much work goes into your job and we thank you for it every day!

How can Principals Month be acknowledged?

Celebrate:
For those of you reading this that aren't principals, we encourage you to honor your principal in a special way. For those of you reading that are principals, take the time to show your appreciation to your mentors in the education world and the other principals in your district. Here are some ways to express your appreciation to principals:

  • Say thank you in person, give them a call, or send an email
  • Record a thank you video and send it to your principal. Include students, teachers, and parents and have it played during an assembly at school
  • Give a shout-out on social media
  • Write a testimonial about them and share it with the school or community
  • Leave a great review online that mentions the great things your principal has accomplished for the school
  • Give a little gift of appreciation. Small tokens of your gratitude and handmade gifts can go a long way

Advocate:

  • Take action to support principals with this national advocacy effort.
  • Join lawmakers, education policy experts, and AFSA, NAESP, and NASSP leaders at this Washington, DC, event.
  • Invite elected officials from all levels of government to shadow a principal for a day so they can see firsthand what principals do every day and how the policy they create directly impacts schools and students.
  • See if your state has declared October as National Principals Month and read the official resolution.
