December 11th is National App Day! In case you haven’t noticed, there is a day dedicated to celebrating just about anything you can think of. There are days to celebrate specific foods like Chocolate Pecan Pie Day on August 20th, days to celebrate people in your family like National Parents Day on July 23rd or specific professions like School Principals Day on May 1st, days dedicated to raising awareness for important causes like World Mental Health Day on October 10th, and even silly things like National Blame Someone Else Day on January 14th. Truly anything you can think of. But National App Day is one that we don’t want to miss!
This day is dedicated to encouraging smartphone users to explore all the possibilities that apps offer. Did you know the first app introduced in 1997, is considered to be the basic arcade game "Snake" that was included in the Nokia 6110? This game was viewed as a turning point in tech and entertainment history.
As smartphone technology evolved, so did apps. They have changed the way people work, live, and even play. Just like there is a national day for just about anything, there's also an app for everything. Everyone remembers the "There's An App For That" campaign back in 2009!
Mobile apps provide organizations with the ability to be visible at all times and communicate, collaborate, and connect with their audiences in unique ways. Apps have become essential in keeping everyone connected and up to date, especially in education communities. A parent communication app keeps administrators, teachers, parents, and students connected and informed about important information at all times. Here are some of the many benefits of having a school app.
A school app is a necessary element in a school's digital communication plan. As technology continues to evolve and needs change, we promise to evolve with it to continue to provide schools with the tools that they need most.
Last year we gave you a list of a few of our favorite educational apps for adults like Duolingo, Memrise, DailyArt & TED Talks. This year we encourage you to celebrate your school's app!
